Kensington Place Celebrates the Chinese New Year

Members of the Kensington Place community and their guests celebrated the Chinese New Year in style on Sunday, February 10.  Over 100 people enjoyed the festivities, food and dancing in the elegant Wellington Dining Room.

Chef Jerry Jones and his team prepared traditional Asian food, including egg rolls, coconut crusted shrimp and much more, accompanied by fresh fruit and other side dishes.  Entertainment was provided by Sounds Familiar a three-piece ensemble specializing in big band era songs.  Guests enjoyed dancing to everything from the classic hit, “Unforgettable” to the always enjoyable,“Hokey Pokey”.

A traditional Chinese dragon also made an appearance during the celebration, snaking its way through the guests to the accompaniment of traditional drum and cymbal music.  Kensington Place’s celebration to welcome in the Year of the Rat was so successful, that one guest was heard proclaiming, “Kensington really knows how to throw a party!”
